How TagGap matches orders

TagGap compares each Shopify order with what your analytics and ad platforms recorded for it.

Why it matters

Knowing how a match is made tells you which fix applies when an order is reported as missing, duplicated or off in value.

How to fix it

  1. GA4 is matched order by order: the GA4 purchase transaction_id is compared with the Shopify order id, order number and order name.
  2. Meta, Google Ads and TikTok only expose daily totals, so TagGap compares daily purchase counts and revenue and explains the gap at day level.
  3. Test orders, cancelled orders, draft or B2B orders and subscription rebills are excluded, because most stores do not send them as purchases.
  4. A match within a few minutes and a few cents is counted as matched; larger value differences are flagged as value mismatches.
